Shannon McKenna, School-Based Family Liaison

 

Hello! I am Shannon McKenna, your School Based Family Liaison works with students, families, teachers and the Administration to help create a strong community within P.S. We have a lot of opportunities for students to have a successful middle school career- and together we can help them see their best possible selves! I bring with me to P.S. a wealth of knowledge from the corporate world, Family Court, and non-profits within Wilmington. Please reach out to me with any questions, or schedule time to drop in and learn more about programs available to your child and/or family.

I have one son, who is about to graduate from Brandywine High School, and two step-daughters. One is in the IB program at Mt. Pleasant, and one is in Springer Middle School. I grew up in the Brandywine School district, as our children are today! I love building relationships with our students and watching them learn and grow. In my free time I love to travel and haven't met a beach I didn't like!

Help & Assistance

• Help for the Holidays: The holiday season will be here before we know it! P.S. is a community and we want to help each other. Please fill out this google form to be considered for help this November/December as we break from school to spend time with family and friends.
• School Supplies: The Sunday Breakfast Mission is hosting a backpack and school supply giveaway! August 13th at 10AM - click the link for more information! No RSVP required!
• Police Athletic League of Wilmington (PAL): Many of our Panthers go to the PAL after school - check them out and see if your child might find a program they like!
• YMCA Walnut Street - Before & After Care: Need someplace for your child to go before and/or after school? Check out the program at the YMCA! Financial Aid may be available!
• Friendship House: If you need help with housing, the Friendship House can help. Click on the link to learn who to contact to get started!
• Food Bank of Delaware: The Food Bank of Delaware can provide families in need with free food, even if you don't have transportation! They have partnered with Amazon and Door Dash to help deliver food to you. Click on the link to learn more and sign up!
